A useful contribution starts with what is already on the list.

Paste one or several items per line. Names and quantities are optional. 0 / 6,000 characters. An empty list is fine too.

Preferences & headcount optional

Used only for a modest contribution size. Never guessed from names or lines.

Tags guide the suggestion, not ingredient or allergen safety. Always check labels and the host's requirements.

What's under the hood

How this tool thinks

The finder recognizes a small vocabulary of foods, drinks, and supplies in a pasted signup list. Longer phrases win: ice cream counts as dessert, and root beer as a nonalcoholic drink. “Ice — TBD” is not a confirmed contribution.

It ranks a curated catalog by event relevance, categories not mentioned, duplication, and your filters. You can correct or exclude every interpreted entry. It does not understand all prose or know how many portions anyone is bringing.

Optional headcount uses a product assumption of one small contribution for up to eight people. This is a starting point to agree with the host, not a catering estimate.

Worth knowing

Useful in the real world

  • Ask before buying, especially for mains, condiments, or supplies the host may already own.
  • A comprehensive list calls for checking quantities or offering a useful extra.
  • Dietary tags describe the intended suggestion, not verified ingredients or allergen safety. Keep packaging and check with the host.
  • Arrange cold storage for perishable food during transport and serving. “No refrigeration” filters toward whole fruit, dry packaged food, sealed shelf-stable drinks, and supplies; follow product labels.

Worked examples

Real inputs, real outputs, and the assumption that changes the answer.

A fresh counterpoint

Potluck: brownies, mac and cheese, pulled pork, chips and salsa, soda, and “Ice — TBD”.

Bring a fruit platter. Fresh produce is not mentioned as confirmed, while mains, sides, snacks, desserts, and soft drinks appear represented. The ice entry is not counted.

With 20 expected guests, the suggestion is about 8 small portions as one contribution, not enough fruit for the entire event.

The event changes the answer

Pizza, brownies, and soda are already listed. What should a game-night guest bring?

Tortilla chips & salsa. Snacks lead this event's priorities. Change the event to BBQ / cookout and ketchup & mustard become the first suggestion instead; check the menu before buying.

No cooler, no cooking

Picnic: sandwiches, cookies, and chips. Choose vegan, no cooking, and no refrigeration.

A pack of still water. Nonalcoholic drinks are not mentioned. Unopened shelf-stable water meets these filters; a chilled salad does not.

Short answers

Questions people actually ask

Can I paste a messy signup list?

Yes. Bullets, names followed by a colon or dash, quantities, and simple multi-item lines are supported. Unknown dishes, alternatives, and tentative wording stay uncertain. Review the interpretation before relying on the suggestion.

Does it know how much food the party has?

No. “Two cases of soda” tells us drinks are mentioned; it does not establish serving sizes, attendance, or whether that amount is enough. Headcount is optional and never inferred from names.

Is this a shared potluck signup sheet?

No. It is a private helper for one guest. It does not save the list, coordinate signups, contact anyone, or send your message. You can copy a suggestion yourself.

What if everything is covered?

Check with the host. The finder will call out that the main event categories appear represented and suggest a possible supplement, without claiming the party has enough of everything.
